The Local Area

Gunnerside is a village situated in the district of Richmondshire on the B6270 road. It lies 6 miles west of Reeth and 6 miles East of Keld between the River Swale and its tributary, Gunnerside Beck. Lying on the Coast to Coast route Gunnerside also boasts a variety of great walks from the village itself.

In the village you will find two fantastic eateries. The Kings Head serves really good pub food for lunch and dinner and of course Yorkshire’s famous Black Sheep. A roaring fire and warm welcome await you. Ghyll foot tea rooms and bistro serves lunches and teas all day, dinners 2 evenings a week and a cracking Sunday lunch, followed by Bobs famous desserts.

3 miles west you will find the beautiful village of Muker, with the Farmers Arms, tea rooms, village shop, art gallery and Swaledale Woollens, for all your winter woollies. Whilst nearby Reeth offers a host of pubs, shops, cafes, galleries and a post office.

Drive up and down the most beautiful dale and see its not to be missed villages; Marrick, Grinton, Reeth, Helaugh, Gunnerside, Muker, Thwaite, Angram and Keld.
